Cyberpunk 2077: Player Reports Strange Teleportation Bug Despite Game’s Extensive Polishing
A New Bug Emerges in Night City
Cyberpunk 2077, the futuristic open-world RPG by CD Projekt Red, continues to surprise players years after its initial launch—this time with a bizarre teleportation glitch. A Reddit user, known as Curilan_, recently experienced an unusual event while exploring the Watson district, where their character was suddenly teleported across the map, landing in front of Judy Alvarez’s apartment.
The glitch first gained attention when Curilan_ shared the incident on social media, sparking discussions across the Cyberpunk 2077 community. This incident serves as a fresh reminder that “no software is ever truly bug-free, even if it enjoyed years of polishing the way Cyberpunk 2077 did.”
Cyberpunk 2077’s Rocky Past and Major Improvements
Following a notoriously troubled release in December 2020, CD Projekt Red spent years overhauling Cyberpunk 2077. What was once criticized for its bugs and technical issues has evolved into a significantly improved experience, featuring extensive content updates, refined quality-of-life improvements, and “completely reworked leveling mechanics that are nearly unprecedented in scope for a single-player title.”
Despite this transformation, rare bugs occasionally slip through the cracks, especially in edge-case scenarios—just as Curilan_ discovered.
The Details of the Teleportation Glitch
According to Curilan_, the glitch occurred after they pulled over their light blue Quadra Turbo-R 740 outside The Afterlife—the iconic bar that kicks off many of the game’s main quests. After stepping out of their vehicle, a sudden loading screen appeared, and moments later, they found themselves inexplicably relocated to the north side of Watson, right outside Judy’s apartment.
Adding to the eeriness, Judy’s character model appeared strangely illuminated and wore an unsettling expression, prompting some fans to nickname this version “creepy Judy.” Reviewing the shared footage frame-by-frame revealed that the player’s avatar (V) was seemingly catapulted into the air during the glitch, and the teleportation sequence initiated after reaching a specific altitude, causing the environment to unload.
What remains unclear is why the game selected Judy’s apartment as the arrival point instead of a random or default location within Night City.
Platform and Patch Prospects
Based on the keyboard-and-mouse control prompts visible in Curilan_’s video, it appears the incident occurred on a PC version of Cyberpunk 2077. However, since console versions have officially supported keyboard and mouse input since 2022, the exact platform isn’t entirely confirmed.
Given that this seems to be the first publicized case of such an incident, the chances of it being addressed in a future patch are considered low. However, considering Cyberpunk 2077 has continued to receive unexpected updates—even beyond its planned support timeline—it remains impossible to dismiss the possibility entirely.
As the Night City landscape evolves with each patch and update, this incident highlights a key lesson for developers and players alike: even the most polished software is susceptible to the unpredictable.
