“Netflix Expands Into Video Podcasts Through Strategic iHeartMedia Partnership”

Netflix Strengthens Podcast Strategy with Exclusive iHeartMedia Video Deals

Netflix is stepping further into the podcast arena with a major partnership with audio giant iHeartMedia, the companies announced Tuesday. Under the deal, 14 video podcasts will be available exclusively on Netflix in the U.S. starting early 2026, marking the streaming platform’s second significant move into the podcast market following its collaboration with Spotify.

A Diverse Lineup of Shows

The upcoming episodes will cover a wide array of genres, including comedy, crime, history, sports, and more. Notable programs in the deal include Dear Chelsea with Chelsea Handler, The Breakfast Club with Charlamagne, and My Favorite Murder with Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark.

The agreement ensures that Netflix will host all new episodes from the lineup, along with select library episodes. Meanwhile, iHeartMedia will maintain audio-only rights, keeping the podcasts accessible on iHeartRadio and other major platforms.

Netflix Targets Video-First Audiences

Netflix aims to attract viewers who prefer watching podcasts over just listening. The company hopes this will draw audiences away from competitors such as YouTube. However, this strategy may create tension for podcasters, as some viewers accustomed to free YouTube access could be lost, potentially affecting ad revenue and reach.

“The partnership gives Netflix a chance to bring the millions of people who prefer video podcasts directly to our platform,” analysts note, highlighting the high stakes for creators who rely on multiple platforms for exposure.

Expanding Its Creator Economy Strategy

This iHeartMedia deal mirrors Netflix’s recent collaboration with Spotify, which included shows such as The Ringer, The Bill Simmons Podcast, and The Zach Lowe Show. Beyond podcasts, Netflix is increasingly exploring new content formats, having teamed up with YouTube creators like Ms. Rachel and Mark Rober to tap into the booming creator economy.

Netflix has also launched party games on TV screens and is reportedly eyeing the theater business through a potential acquisition of Warner Bros., reflecting a broader push to diversify beyond traditional TV shows and movies.

  • The Breakfast Club

  • Bobby Bones Presents: The Bobbycast

  • My Favorite Murder

  • Dear Chelsea

  • Stuff They Don’t Want You to Know

  • Stuff You Missed in History Class

Netflix’s move reflects its ongoing commitment to expand into video-first formats and capture audiences in new entertainment niches, signaling a strategic evolution from streaming giant to multimedia platform.
