India Leads LinkedIn’s Rapid Expansion of Profile Verification in 2025
As digital work networks increasingly face challenges around authenticity and trust, LinkedIn’s profile verification program is gaining significant momentum in 2025. India has emerged as the fastest-growing market for these verifications, reflecting the country’s growing influence on global professional networking trends.
Verification Adoption Accelerates Globally
LinkedIn members are adding approximately 30 million verifications per year, with adoption rising more than 38% year-over-year in 2025, according to Oscar Rodriguez, LinkedIn’s vice president of trust products. This surge follows the company’s recent announcement that over 100 million users have added at least one verification to their profiles.
The initiative, first rolled out in 2022, was designed to provide clearer signals of authenticity. Initially, LinkedIn focused on confirming members’ workplace or identity via company email addresses. It later expanded to government-issued ID checks, and the verification system now also applies to company pages and job listings.
How Members Are Verifying Themselves
Most LinkedIn users who add verifications confirm their workplace affiliation rather than personal identity. Rodriguez explains:
-
About 60% of verified members confirm their workplace, usually through a company email.
-
Roughly 27% verify their identity using a government-issued ID.
This approach helps LinkedIn maintain a balance between user privacy and the authenticity of professional credentials.
India: The Fastest-Growing Market
Geographically, the U.S. holds the largest share of verified users, representing roughly 40% of the platform’s 100+ million verified members. India follows closely, along with other key markets such as the U.K., Canada, Brazil, and France.
While the U.S. remains the largest overall market, India is LinkedIn’s fastest-growing region for profile verification, with adoption rising around 80% in the past 12 months, Rodriguez said.
With over 160 million LinkedIn users, India is already one of the platform’s largest and most rapidly expanding markets. The surge in verifications mirrors broader trends in professional networking, hiring, and remote work, demonstrating how shifts in India’s workforce are shaping LinkedIn’s global engagement.
Extending Verification Beyond LinkedIn
LinkedIn has also begun taking verifications beyond its own platform. Earlier this year, the Microsoft-owned company launched the “Verified on LinkedIn” program, enabling partner platforms to display LinkedIn verification badges. Zoom is the latest partner to join, alongside Adobe and G2. A self-serve API has also been introduced, allowing other organizations to integrate LinkedIn verification into their own services.
Verified Profiles Drive Higher Engagement
LinkedIn reports that verified profiles enjoy significantly higher engagement:
-
Up to 60% more profile views
-
Around 50% more interactions on posts
Verified company pages also benefit from higher visibility and faster follower growth, highlighting the value of authenticity for both individuals and organizations.
“Verifications provide a powerful signal of authenticity on LinkedIn, helping to support authenticity and trust,” Rodriguez said. “Members with verifications are far more likely to represent real people, and jobs with verified pages and hirers maintain significantly higher integrity and safety standards.”
